You already know that in business you need to be marketing all the time. But there are never enough hours in the day to make it all happen so we’ve put together our most popular tips to help you get the most out of your marketing.

Tip 1: Network, network, network
Our number one tip for marketing, is to network. Not just a way of selling, networking is a great way of reaching more clients, it’s also a great way to promote your business and learn from others. There are many advantages to buying from local suppliers. Join your local Chamber of Commerce or networking group and learn from its members. You’ll meet a whole new range of possible contacts so make sure you go armed with plenty of business cards.

Tip 2: Get personal with direct mail
As more and more people send digital communications, mail received in the post becomes more effective. The key is to make what you send memorable. A die cut mailer may tick all of the boxes but make sure the design of your mailer will help to create a response from your customers. We can help design, print and fulfil a mailing campaign for you so why not call us on 020 7247 3556 and create your next campaign.

Tip 3: Review your website
How old is your website? When was it last updated? Can it be found on Google? Nowadays, having a website is essential. But it’s no good having a messy, unprofessional site. Make it sleek, shiny and mobile friendly and the customers will come. Have you ever considered selling online? Our web designers have bags of experience and can get you trading 24/7 in no time.

Tip 4: Get more from your shows and exhibitions
Make sure your stand looks good. Don’t just take a couple of roller banners. Consider upgrading to one of our new fabric stands. Make sure you have freebies on hand to give out. Preparation is key. Use our checklist to make sure you get the best from the show. You can download it from here. Link to Conference and Exhibitions Checklist.

Tip 5: Make use of email marketing
Email marketing is probably the cheapest form of marketing you have at your disposal. It’s a great way to keep in contact with your customers and can be used to drive traffic to your website. Encourage your subscribers to read the email by offering promotions or discounts – everyone loves a bargain! You must make sure that you’re GDPR compliant though (which typically means no bought in lists!).

Tip 6: Produce a company newsletter
Often, we think our customer knows our business and what we sell. But they may not. A company newsletter is a great way to engage with your target audience. Despite the popularity of email people still value a printed newsletter and this is your opportunity to let them know what you’re up to.

Tip 7: Case Studies – a great way to showcase your work
Whether you’re a painter and decorator or a graphic designer, new customers will often want to see examples of work you’ve done for previous clients. Case studies allow you to do this. They look great on a website, or in print and are an excellent way to name-drop well known clients.

Tip 8: Update your Google My Business listing
Here’s a quick win which doesn’t cost you anything. Make sure you claim your free Google My Business listing and optimise it. Formerly Google Places, GMB has a number of local SEO benefits – most notably appearing in Google map search.
It is important that customers can find you. One of their first ports of call will be Google, so it’s important that you’re highly visible in the search engine results. If you have a physical location rather than a purely on-line business it’s essential that you take advantage of this free listing.

Tip 9: Leaflet Drops – ideal for B2C
Door drop leaflets are retained for up to 38 days because people find them useful (Source: Royal Mail Marketreach survey). Create a bold design and you’ll stand out from the crowd. If you’re opening a new business or want to attract a local audience a leaflet door drop can be a cost-effective way to spread the word.

Tip 10: Write a book/article
Be seen as an expert by writing a book or scholarly article, or speaking at an event. Good for your LinkedIn profile or website, long articles can have SEO benefits and increase your authority in your field. If you require design or printing for your book, or printed presentation notes to accompany a seminar speak to the team at Capital Print & Display. We’d be happy to help.
